you don't need long term care insurance. Your assets is your insurance. To be conservative and possible super inflation, use 2.5 million

On the other hand, if your asset is less than 100k, you don't need it either. Medicare will take care of you.

I read once somewhere that on avg, 60% of nursing home residents will pass away within first 12 month, and very few last more than 3 years, and all insurance company are betting on that..

I bought Long term diability for lost income, which was the biggest risk I foresee at that time.
That's not Long term care though.
